Our last show of the year was at Luton Canine Societies Premier show. Ginny won the Post Graduate class under Lucy Reader (Kaniboo) a good end to the year and Ginny's last show for a while as she will be taking a break next year, making way for our two youngsters.

We received a photo of young Alfie over Christmas from Alison and her family - Many thanks

Many thanks to Caroline and her family for an update and photos of Muffin. Were very glad to hear she is getting along very well and is keeping you all on your toes. A photo of Muffin has been added to the 'Keladity Owners' Page. This young lady reminds me very much of her Aunty Ginny as a puppy!

Today we took Jazzy on a little outing to Holkham Beach on the West Norfolk coast for a 'Cockers On-line' meet up. She had a great time running around with the other dogs and it was great to meet up with fellow COL members, here are a few photos...

Some Health News...... At the weekend we took the following dogs to an eye testing session to have their eyes examined and tested by Professor Bedford from the Royal Veterinary College.

Charbonnel Promises of Keladity
Keladity Kastillo
Keladity Treasure

All 3 are Optigen A1(prcd- form of GPRA) by parentage but were examined also for CPRA (although a comparatively rarer form). The dogs also had the Goniodysgenesis (Glaucoma) test. A costly day but a definate must for us. All 3 passed with flying colours :-)

Here is a photo of Aero taken on holiday this summer with his very proud owner Charlotte.

Many thanks Sarah for the photo and update. In Sarah's words 'Aero is a very fit, very funny and very much loved. He's truly a wonderful boy in everyway.'

Today we attended the United Spaniel Associations Sporting Spaniel Breed Seminar. We had a very enjoyable day learning about the 8 sporting spaniel breeds. Breed experts in American Cockers, English Cockers, English Springers, Clumbers, Welsh Springers, Irish Water, Field and Sussex Spaniels each gave a presentation of their breed and the breed standard.

Many thanks to Glyn and Priscilla for sending this photo of Louie with his Teddy Bear! Very glad to hear he is getting along very well and you are having lots of fun with him.

Today was the Solid Colours Cocker Spaniel Associations first Championship Show which we thoroughly enjoyed. A lot of hard work was put in behind the scenes and the show was a great success. Here is a link to the clubs website for the full results www.solidcolourcockers.co.uk

Below are some photos of Jazzy's pups Tinker & Tarker. They started puppy socialisation and ring training classes a few weeks ago and have been having great fun! They are both very keen, their tails are always wagging and they love to play with the other pups. Were looking forward to the Solid Cocker Spaniel Clubs first Championships show in a few weeks and hope to catch up with a few show friends there.

Jazzy's babies have now all left home, it was very sad for us to see them all go but they have all settled in really well with their new families. I hope to post some photos of them all soon.

We have retained two puppies ourselves which we hope to have some fun with!

Photos coming soon.

I recently recevied this latest photo of Bliss from Nathalie and her family. Nathalie tells me she is such a joy to live with and exceptionally good with the children. Thanks Nathalie for taking such great care of this special girl.

Today, I was on committee duties at the Solid Cocker Clubs Judges Development Day. The day went really well and I thoroughly enjoyed it, starting with a talk on the breed standard by chief assessor Alan Curry (Lodore) followed by the 'Hands on Assessment' and 50 points of the dog. All of the test dogs behaved impeccably and stood well, in between breaks for the students to assess - a testament to our lovely breeds patient and gentle nature.

The day ended with the Conformation and Movement seminar by KC Assessor Christina Chapman. Although I have already attended a Conformation and Movement seminar, I took part again as I am keen to learn - theres always something new you can learn about dogs from different people and I really enjoyed listening to Christina. It was one of the best presentations I have been too and Christina's humour certainly had us all laughing and joking but at the same time absorbing the information before us.

Alfie on his holidays in Devon -Thanks for the photo Alison :-)

Adam treated me to a great weekend in Newmarket- Suffolk visiting the National Stud and the National Horse Racing Museum. (Somewhere I have always wanted to go but never got round to going!)

During our tour of the stud we viewed the stallions currently standing at stud, we saw Amberleigh House the National Winner who is enjoying his retirement and this seasons foals were out at grass enjoying the good weather, a glorious sight indeed to see the foals basking in the sunshine with their mothers.

The museum was very fascinating and we spent hours pouring over racing and thoroughbred history.  It was particulary interesting to see the ancestry charts and pedigrees of some of the famous winners from times gone by.

I can thoroughly recomend visting both the stud and museum they were well worth the visit. Thanks Ad for a lovely weekend.

A young filly that was very intrigued by all the attention.

Today me and Ginny braved the rain and went to the Coventry Cocker Spaniel Clubs Open show. The judge for the day was A1 listed judge Barry Tomlin (Clarksland) I was pleased that Ginny was awarded 1st in Special Tryers (Exhibitors not having won a CC in the breed).

Congratulations too, to our friend Mike Wildman and Zac (Lindridge Ticket to Ride JW) also owned by Edith Fowles who was awarded Best in Show. Zac had also won the Dog CC at Bath the day before. Lets hope the 3rd one comes along soon.....

21/05/07

Another day of learning..... Today we attended a breed judging seminar organised by the Home Counties Cocker Club ' Learn how to judge & evaluate breed points when placing dogs'. This was an interesting and enjoyable day and was a good opportunity for me and Adam to gain more experience going over different dogs. We were pleased to come away with a certificate each and have now been placed on the societies 'C' judging list.

19/05/07

Today Adam and I attended a KC Seminar on Rules and Regulations & Judging procedures which was run by the London Cocker Spaniel Club. Our  KC Accredited trainer and speaker for the day was Mr Gerald King and I'm pleased to say we both passed.

Today we spent a lovely day at the East Anglian Cocker Championship Show. We just took Jazzy along for the day out and she thoroughly enjoyed herself as usual! Jazzy's grandad, Warlord was short listed for the Dog CC and declared Best Veteran in Show  which was great to see.  It was a lovely sunny day so we took the opportunity to take some photos.

Jazzy in show pose.

This girlie truly has the most fantastic temperament and although she can be a little cheeky monkey at times, she is so endearing. She has such a zest for life and is the best tonic anybody could wish for to brighten your day. Jazzy had her first litter of puppies last year and proved to be an excellent mother. We hope to breed from her again shortly.

The Keladity Cocker Spaniels have moved...... (2 miles down the road into the next village!)

We moved into our new home one week before Christmas. This is the first chance I have had to take some photos.  We have taken on rather a hefty refurbishment project hence why we haven't attended manys shows this year but it is coming together well and will be lovely when we finally finish - not sure when that will be!!

20/03/07

We recentley took the dogs for a picnic to the beach along the beautiful North/West Norfolk coast. We all had a lovely day, the dogs enjoyed getting wet, covered in sand, dipping their toes in the sea, playing ball and generally doing what cockers like to do - have lots of fun!! Here are a few photos.....

Although not cocker related I just wanted to mention my sister Michelle. Shell (Aunty Shell to the dogs!) is training very hard for the London Marathon in April, she is running in aid of EACH (East Anglian Childrens Hospice). She is very dedicated and I have no idea how she does it... 26 miles!! I don't think I could run 2!!

Click on the links below to see Shell recentley running a 10 mile race.

I had a lovely day at Crufts with Ginny on Thursday.

It was great to catch up with friends, as usual there were stacks of people around the breed rings and benches and so much shopping to be done!!

I was pleased that Ginny was short-listed in her class, so many people commented on how beautiful my Ginny is - I am a very proud Mum!! Hopefully I will shortly have a photo of Ginny on the day.

Well, thats Crufts over for another year!  How time flies!!

25/02/07

I received some photos today of Bliss from Nathalie and her family. The photos were taken on Hastings beach. It gives us a great deal of pleasure to see our pups getting on and being cared for so well by their new families. Nathalie tells me she is stopped everywhere she goes by people commenting on how lovely Bliss is and of course Bliss loves all the attention!!

24/02/2007

Today I attended my first committee meeting for The Solid Colours Cocker Spaniel Association where I was co-opted onto the committee.

I had a very enjoyable day, great hospitality (thanks George and Lyn).

The committee are a lovely, friendly bunch and very commited to the association, it is surprising how much hardwork and attention to detail goes into running dog shows.

I am really pleased to have been asked to come aboard and I am looking forward this year, to the forthcoming Open Show in April and the first Championship Show in October.

10/02/07

We attended our first champ show of the year today which was held by the Parti-Colour Cocker Spaniel Club.  We had a lovely day whatching the dogs and chatting to friends unfortunately it was dissapointing on the showing front, Ginny was very surprisingly unplaced and Jazzy narrowley missed gaining her stud book number again, but hey thats showing for!! Both girls enjoyed themselves and performed beautifully for me which was the main thing -their tails never stopped!!

Frankie 'SH CH Charbonnel Warlord JW' more than made our day by winning Best Veteran in Show - a super star as always!!

Our next outing will be CRUFTS! Ginny will be stepping out onto the green carpet for a 2nd time!

07/02/07

We haven't attended many shows recentley, having just recently moved we have had plenty of things to do at home. We have been exploring the local walks and the dogs have been on some lovely walks in the village. We are very lucky to have 200 acres of beautiful unspoilt common land on our door step which is fantastic the dogs love it especially this time of year when it is lovely and wet & muddy!!!

02/02/07
