What a fantastic way to end the Year!!!
Dolly gains her Junior Warrant at 14 months old
(Subject to KC Confirmation)
28/12/09
A fantastic day was had at the Ashbourne & District Canine Society's Open Show. Dolly won the junior, graduate, post graduate and open classes in good company under breed judge Kate Siviter (Trentshome).
This resulted in her gaining more than enough points to gain her Junior Warrant Title. Which for those who don't know what this means; this enters her in the KC Stud book and qualifies her to compete at Crufts for life. We can also add the title JW to the end of her show name.
We are over the moon and would like to thank all judges who have appreciated her qualities and fellow exhibitors and friends for your support and good wishes. A special thanks to Dolly's breeders - Sue & Annie Kettle too for allowing us to have our beautiful girl, she certainly has fulfilled her early promise!
We wish you all a Happy New Year!

We went to LKA - Ladies Kennel Association at the NEC, the last Championship show of the year. Dolly was placed 4th in Special Yearling under Breed Specialist Mark Boswell (Marquell). Here is a photo of our beautiful Dolly...

Recently I have come across some pet cocker spaniels whose coats have been in a terrible state, thick matted coats and ears which clearly have not been trimmed for some time. It is very sad to see because it must be restrictive and uncomfortable for them. Cocker Spaniels usually need their coats trimmed or clipped every 8 -12 weeks by a professional dog groomer who will bath, dry and trim/clip your cocker spaniel for you. Usually it costs between £20-£30 a time and this should be something you should have budgeted for before buying a cocker spaniel. Not only is it uncomfortable for the dogs but it is asking for ear trouble leaving lots of over-grown hair around the opening of the ear and other health issues associated with poor coat condition. So please ensure your cocker gets a good daily brush -not just on the top of the coat but down to the skin, ears & armpits can be the worse areas plus a regular trip to the groomers!

Oh dear, what a very disappointing day for our Dolly! We went to Leicester Gundog Open show today and Dolly was UNPLACED! Judge for the cockers was Dachshund breeder Mrs W Minshull (Sidelock).
Our little star has done so well this year under some of the most respected breed judges at Championship show level and we have been given much positive encourangement. We didn't expect to win the class but were very surprised at her dismisal!! Nethertheless I was proud of of my little girl who as always showed her socks off and gave me her all.
3 hours drive there and 3 hours drive back - a day wasted but hey you have to grin and bear it as that's dog showing, you just have to take it on the chin! ....
Onwards and upwards to the next one!

Thank you for a lovely day.

I'm really proud to be part of the team; a great bunch of people who know how to get things done but with much joviality along the way!! Here are some photos....

Another busy weekend. Tinker left for pastures new today, she has joined Mike & Leslie who live only a few villages away which means we will be seeing lots of her, which is perfect. Thank you both for giving our girlie a fabulous home. It's never easy letting dogs go and we are very strict and particular about where they go to, we do however get lots of pleasure about hearing how they are doing and the joy they bring to other peoples lives.
On Saturday me and a friend did the long drive (4hrs 20 mins!) to the West of England Cocker Spaniel Clubs Championship show near Bristol. It was worth the journey as Dolly was placed 1st in Maiden & 2nd in Special Beginners by Breed specialist Sarah Amos-Jones (Cassom) and we had a lovely day catching up with cocker folk.
